In a DETECT-Ahead substudy led by Scripps Translational Research, patient self-reporting of cough symptoms was compared to objective cough frequency in patients with infectious diseases. The results showed a strong discrepancy between patient self-reports and objective data, highlighting the need for both approaches when assessing cough burden.
