Tuning In To Cough in Pulmonary Fibrosis: How Do We Address the Gap?
Presented by Toby Maher, PhD, MD, Professor of Clinical Medicine at Keck School of Medicine, USC
📅 Monday, May 19 | 🕗11:55 AM – 12:15 PM PST | 📍Exhibit Hall Innovation Hub #7
Add to Calendar

Session Description: Cough associated with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) negatively impacts patients’ quality of life, leading to anxiety, social isolation, sleep disruption, fatigue, incontinence, and decreased work productivity. Although both anti-fibrotic treatments and anti-tussives have the potential to offer cough relief, it often remains overlooked in studies of IPF and other interstitial lung diseases.

Join our discussion with Dr. Toby Maher on patient-reported outcomes and novel technologies to study cough in pulmonary fibrosis.

Abstract Description: While manual cough counting by human annotators is often considered the gold standard for measuring cough frequency, it’s time-intensive and may be less practical for certain applications such as subject screening. This scientific abstract highlights recent performance results of Strados Labs’ CoughCheck™ algorithm, developed for the automated detection of cough events.
